Hidden Paws is an 8-bit game designed to raise awareness about the impact of human activities on forest ecosystems. Inspired by Francesca Malcangi's scientific research, it combines education and entertainment to explore crucial issues such as biodiversity conservation and the protection of the Eurasian lynx.
The focus of Hidden Paws is on creating an interactive experience that simulates real environmental pressures. Through levels inspired by forest degradation, players learn the importance of taking action to preserve nature.

Challenge
The challenge was to collaborate on a project designed to combine entertainment and environmental awareness.
Creating the levels of the game to reflect the increasing difficulty related to environmental degradation was a key focus of development, with a focus on balancing challenge with educational understanding.
Teamwork was key, collaborating with developers from different backgrounds, all focused on providing an engaging and meaningful gaming experience.

Solution
The technology stack selected for the development of Hidden Paws includes Kaplay.js (formerly kaboom.js), a JavaScript library created to create 2D games with a fluid and engaging interactive experience.
Instead, a Laravel application was created for the project's landing and deployment, which ensured efficient management of server-side services and easy integration with front-end components. This choice also leaves several possibilities open for the future.
In addition to the basic tools provided by the chosen technologies, customised scripts and components were created to adapt the game mechanics to the specific requirements of the project, such as the simulation of environmental degradation and dynamic level management.
